- Pressurized storm sewer simulation : model enhancement / by Yu, Shaw L.(CARDINAL)314598; Woolfolk, Michelle.; Wu, Yin.(CARDINAL)682366; Virginia Transportation Research Council.(CARDINAL)195142;
Includes bibliographical references (page 101).Final report;A modified Pressurized Flow Simulation Model, PFSM, was developed and attached to the Federal Highway Administration, FHWA, Pool Funded PFP-HYDRA Package. Four hydrograph options are available for simulating inflow to a sewer system under surcharge or pressurized conditions. Several key parameters, such as time-step and print options, are discussed on a theoretical basis for the development of guidelines recommended for parameter selection. A User's Manual for PFSII was completed, providing detailed instructions on the use of the model.Sponsored by the Virginia Dept. of Transportation in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, under contract no.

- Energy losses through junction manholes / by Chang, F. M.(Fred M.)(CARDINAL)320478; United States.Federal Highway Administration.Office of Engineering & Highway Operations Research and Development.(CARDINAL)286896; GKY & Associates.(CARDINAL)284303; Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center.(CARDINAL)286897;
Includes bibliographical references (volume 1, page 95).v. 1. Research report and design guide -- v. 2. Experimental data.Laboratory report;The objective of this report is to develop and test methodologies for computing energy losses at junction manholes. Laboratory data obtained over a 6-year period at the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Hydraulics Laboratory are analyzed within the framework of three methodologies: the energy grade line, power loss, and neural networks. Descriptions of the methods are presented, along with a statistical analysis comparing the accuracy with which each method computes observed depth in the junction manhole.Sponsored by Office of Engineering and Highway Operations R & D, Federal Highway Administration, and performed by GKY and Associates, under contract no.

- Culvert & storm drain system inspection guide. by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials,issuing body.(CARDINAL)138446;
Includes bibliographical references (pages R1-R9).Section 1. Introduction -- section 2. Design and performance characteristics -- section 3. Inspection procedure -- section 4. Condition rating system -- section 5. Asset management -- Appendix A. Structural shapes, materials, and system compnents[sic] -- app. B. Catalog of distressed conditions -- Glossary."This Guide provides Inspectors with guidelines for routine condition assessment of culverts or storm drains, including all components in their systems. . . The Guide is a useful resource to agencies developing and conducting culvert and storm drain inspection programs. The Guide also provides guidance for developing a transportation asset management plan for culvert and storm drain system inventories"--Page 1-1.
