Screen tests : stories and other writing / by Zambreno, Kate,author.(CARDINAL)787681;
In the first half of Kate Zambreno's astoundingly original collection, the narrator regales us with incisive and witty swatches from a life lived inside a brilliant mind, meditating on aging and vanity, fame and failure, writing and writers, along with portraits of everyone from Susan Sontag to Amal Clooney, Maurice Blanchot to Louise Brooks. The series of essays that follow, on figures central to Zambreno's thinking, including Kathy Acker, David Wojnarowicz, and Barbara Loden, are manifestoes about art, that ingeniously intersect and chime with the stories that came before them.

Includes bibliographical references (page 113).Introduction and background -- Bar submissions and quality control tests on bars -- Solution immersion tests -- Cathodic disbondment testing -- Comparison of adhesion performance following solution immersion tests and cathodic disbondment tests -- Review of ASTM/AASHTO specifications for epoxy-coated bars -- Technological advances and summary -- 1995-1997 task 4 in-concrete testing program -- Appendix -- References.Interim report;This report is a continuation of the work reported in the January 1995 report FHWA-RD-94-103. That report presented coating adhesion performance data following cathodic debonding and solution immersion tests on 22 bendable and 11 nonbendable organic coatings applied to straight and 4D bent shape reinforcing steel bars. This Phase II report describes tests on 5 bendable and 5 nonbendable organic coatings, 7 of which were selected from the previous study on 33 coatings. These 10 coatings, 9 epoxies and 1 vinyl, also included the 3M 213 epoxy coating that was commonly used for many years in bridge construction. The 10 coatings were tested for adhesion performance on straight and 4D, 6D, and 8D bent bar shapes after cathodic disbondment tests and solution immersion tests.Sponsored by Office of Engineering and Highway Operations R&D, Federal Highway Administration, under contract no.

Includes bibliographical references (pages 101-104).Introduction -- Brief review of previous corrosion performance studies of metallic-coated steel bars and solid alloy bars in concrete -- Limited economic discussion of reinforcing bar costs in bridge construction -- Corrosion and cracking of concrete -- Task 2 details on clad bars -- Task 2 clad bars: initial screening test results on clad bars -- Tasks 2/3 test details on selected clad bars and solid metallic bars -- Task 2/3 test results on selected clad bars and solid bars -- Summary and discussion of service life performance -- 1995-1997 task 4 in-concrete testing program -- Appendix A: Bar descriptions -- Appendix B: Half-cell potential measurements in solutions -- References.Interim report;This report describes corrosion tests conducted in the first 2 years of a 5-year project on 14 inorganic-, ceramic-, and metallic-clad reinforcing bars and 10 solid metallic alloy reinforcing bars. Test results obtained from wetting and drying of bent and straight specimens in the pH 7 and pH 13 solutions are presented. These tests were conducted on bars in three different conditions: as-received, with a drill hole, and after abrasion. Test conditions were developed to be representative of concrete.Performed by Wiss, Janney, Elster Associates, Inc., for Office of Engineering and Highway Operations, R&D, FHWA, under contract no.
