K. Simmons, Lee Tergesen, Eamon Walker, Dean Winters, Betty Buckley, Barry Levinson, Tom Fontana.Oz is the nickname for the Oswald State Correctional Facility, formerly Oswald State Penitentiary, a maximum-security prison. Many of the plot arcs are set in "Emerald City" ("Em City"), an experimental unit of the prison in which the unit manager Tim McManus (Terry Kinney) attempts to emphasize rehabilitation and learning responsibility during incarceration. Emerald City is an extremely controlled environment where there are a controlled number of members of each racial and social group. The first episode introduces two inmates: meek lawyer Tobias Beecher (Lee Tergeson), who transforms from a vulnerable lamb on a DUI sentence to a fearless, drug-addicted wildcat, and Muslim activist Kareem Said (Eamonn Walker), a fiercely non-violent leader whose campaign for reform often conflicts with fellow inmates. Gradually the viewer is introduced to other major players and their gangs, including neo-nazi Vernon Schillinger (J. K. Simmons), drug-supplier Simon Adebisi (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Latino inmate Miguel Alvarez (Kirk Acevedo), violent murderer Chris Keller (Christopher Meloni), and wheelchair-bound Augustus Hill (Harold Perrineau), who largely narrates the entire series. Outside Em City, the viewer finds the staff of the prison, including prison counselor Sister Peter Marie Reimondo (Rita Moreno), Warden Leo Glynn (Ernie Hudson), prison doctor Gloria Nathan (Lauren Velez), and prison chaplain Father Ray Mukada (B. D. Wong). It is the interaction between these units -- the prisoners and the staff -- and the multiple issues raised in an incarceration setting that set the plot in motion.DVD, region 1, widescreen presentation, Dolby Digital 5.0.

Turning the tables : from housewife to inmate and back again / by Giudice, Teresa,1972-author.(CARDINAL)499062; Baker, K. C.,author.(CARDINAL)545053;
Teresa Giudice, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, has seen it all, but nothing -- not even Real Housewives scandals -- could compare to the media firestorm that ensued after she was convicted on federal fraud charges. The infamous, fun-loving Jersey mom of four was sentenced to fifteen months in the same prison where Piper Kerman -- the real-life inspiration behind Orange Is the New Black -- did her time. Her tiny prison cubicle in Connecticut felt so far removed from the glamorous world portrayed on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. What was a skinny Italian to do? Keep a diary, of course. Teresa comes clean on all things Giudice: growing up as an Italian-American, meeting the love of her life and starting a family, dealing with chaos and catfights on national television, and eventually, coming to terms with the reality of life in prison. Featuring scans of her prison diary, Turning the Tables captures the most memorable moments of her prison stay, including the cringe-inducing fistfights she witnessed, the awkward conundrum of being trapped when a fellow inmate had a guest over, and the strength she found while confined between four concrete walls. Even at her lowest of lows, Teresa was able to live la bella vita by staying positive and realizing her purpose. "The world will see a new Teresa. A different Teresa. Well, actually, the Teresa I always was."Growing up Gorga -- Becoming Mrs. Juicy Joe -- Housewives, Jersey style -- My new reality -- Orange is the new ... nightmare -- Drama queens, dressed in greens -- TV wars -- Tabloid spies -- Snitches and snakes -- Turning the tables.

Secrets of the Civil War [videorecording] : the stories of lost battles and covert missions finally revealed / by A & E Home Video (Firm)(CARDINAL)218747; Arts and Entertainment Network.(CARDINAL)225081; History (Television network)(CARDINAL)558042; New Video Group.(CARDINAL)219113;
Even today, almost 150 years after Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House, unexpected secrets and little-known stories continue to emerge from Civil War history. In the cavalry charge at Mine Creek in Kansas, it took only 30 minutes for 2,800 Union troops to defeat an enemy force more than double in size, and yet, few people have heard of it. The same can be said of a Confederate raid on Vermont and an attempt by Union coal miners to blow up a Southern fort by tunneling undeneath it.DVD; Dolby Digital stereo.
