- Parallel universes explained / by Farber, Ryan Jeffrey.(CARDINAL)793197;
Includes bibliographical references (pages 76-77) and index.Wormholes in space-time -- Beyond the edge of the universe -- Eternal inflation -- The many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics -- Hyperspace: a fifth dimension? -- Strings and branes: 11 dimensions?"Since the time of Einstein, ideas of parallel universes have grown from far-out concepts to mature scientific theories. Using everyday analogies and do-it-yourself models to simplify intimidating concepts, students will learn about the most fascinating topics in modern cosmology, such as the big bang theory, inflation, wormholes, and higher dimensions. Student learning is enhanced by illuminating diagrams and informative sidebars that explore related timely topics in depth. This book supports the Next Generation Science Standards' emphasis on evidence-based theories by discussing past observations and future tests of each parallel universe theory."--

- Rip the Sky / by Packard, Mark. ;
Billy Worster is a naïve teenager when he is drafted and sent to fight in the Vietnam War. He comes home to a dusty Texas farm riddled with shame by a horrific secret that he vows to hide forever. As Billy spirals into addiction and despair, he dreams he can fly into parallel worlds where he sees different versions of himself—lives that could have been his had he made better choices. But these aren't dreams. They're real. Still tormented decades later, Billy finds himself locked in chains in a courtroom when a shocking crime sends him soaring into the heavens. Is he alive, or is he dead? And if he is free to soar throughout the multiverse, why is he being drawn back to the one place he swore he’d never return—the jungle that broke him? In search of his best life, Billy must confront the haunting secret he always tried to forget, because somewhere in a dark jungle lies the truth about who he is, what he’s lost, and what he might still become. Spanning forty years from the jungles of Vietnam through infinite, parallel worlds, Rip The Sky explores the resiliency of the human spirit, the healing power of forgiveness, and what it means to truly escape your past—even when it follows you through every world.

- The pursuit of the Pankera : a parallel novel about parallel universes / by Heinlein, Robert A.(Robert Anson),1907-1988,author.(CARDINAL)342282; Complemented by (work):Heinlein, Robert A.(Robert Anson),1907-1988.Number of the beast.;
"The Pursuit of the Pankera is one of the most audacious experiments ever done in science fiction. Robert A. Heinlein wrote The Number of the Beast, which was published in 1980. In the book Zeb, Deety, Hilda and Jake are ambushed by the alien "Black Hats" and barely escape with their lives on a specially configured vehicle (the Gay Deceiver) which can travel along various planes of existence, allowing them to visit parallel universes. However, unknown to most fans, Heinlein had already written a "parallel" novel about the four characters and parallel universes in 1977. He effectively wrote two parallel novels about parallel universes. The novels share the same start, but as soon as the Gay Deceiver is used to transport them to a parallel universe, each book transports them to a totally different parallel world. From that point on the plot lines diverge completely. While The Number of the Beast morphs into something very different, more representative of later Heinlein works, The Pursuit of the Pankera remains on target with a much more traditional Heinleinesque storyline and ending, reminiscent of his earlier works. The Pursuit of the Pankera was never published and there have been many competing theories as to why (including significant copyright issues in 1977). Over time the manuscript was largely forgotten but survived in fragments. A recent re-examination of these fragments, however, made it clear that put together in the right order they constituted the complete novel. And here it finally is: Robert A. Heinlein's audacious experiment. A fitting farewell from one of the most inventive science fiction writers to have ever lived: a parallel novel about parallel universes as well as a great adventure pitting the forces of good versus evil only the way Heinlein could do"--
