Sherman tank. America's M4A2 medium tank in World War II / by Doyle, David,author.;
Powered by twin General Motors diesel engines, the M4A2 Sherman was the standard tank of the US Marine Corps during WWII. In such service, having a common fuel with many of the landing craft simplified logistics. The M4A2 was also supplied in large numbers to Russia as well as the British. The M4A2 was used in some of the most severe tank combat of the war, both on Pacific islands and on the Eastern Front. This book chronicles the development and use of these vehicles from concept to combat. Through dozens of archival photos, many never before published, as well as detailed photographs of some of the finest existent examples of surviving vehicles, these iconic armored fighting vehicles are explored, and their history is explained.

Fire trucks / by Zachary, Paul,author.(CARDINAL)418178;
A fire truck is a large vehicle used to transport firefighters and equipment to the scene of a fire. Most fire trucks carry ladders, axes, breathing equipment, general tools and long water hoses. A large telescopic ladder is used to gain access to fight fires at great heights. Some ladders have a bucket at the top. From the bucket, a firefighter can easily use equipment or rescue people. Flashing lights and loud sirens are used to get through traffic faster and to let people know they are coming. Some fire departments use fireboats to combat fires on watercraft and waterfront areas. A wildland fire engine is designed to help firefighters fight wildfires. Firefighters are trained to put out fires that threaten buildings and people. Firefighters must wear protective clothing and carry heavy equipment--960L
