- No bad parts : healing trauma & restoring wholeness with the internal family systems model / by Schwartz, Richard C.,author.(CARDINAL)752424;
Includes bibliographical references (pages 193-197)."Dr. Schwartz is the creator of Internal Family Systems (IFS), a paradigm-changing model of consciousness that has been transforming psychology for decades. Here, you'll learn why IFS has been so effective in areas such as trauma recovery, addiction therapy, depression, and more. IFS overturns the idea that we have one "true" identity and recognizes that having multiple parts is not a pathology, but a normal and healthy function of the human mind. Dr. Schwartz shares insights and practices to help you recognize your own "inner family" of parts, understand how each part seeks to help and protect you even when it seems problematic, engage in inner dialogue to restore balance and self-love-and deepen your awareness of the higher Self that holds and encompasses every facet of your diverse consciousness"--

Recovering from roadblocks on the journey home: Mourning invisible losses ; Healing from breakups and divorce ; Coping and healing from a toxic workplace ; Recovering from childhood trauma ; Resisting oppression -- Conclusion: Welcome home : the journey continues.A road map for dismantling the fear and shame that keep you from living a free and authentic life. In the aftermath of stress, disappointment, and trauma, people often fall into survival mode, even while a part of them longs for more. Juggling multiple demands and responsibilities keeps them busy, but not healed. As a survivor of sexual assault, racism, and evacuation from a civil war in Liberia, Dr. Thema Bryant knows intimately the work involved in healing. Having made the journey herself, in addition to guiding others as a clinical psychologist and ordained minister, Dr. Thema shows you how to reconnect with your authentic self and reclaim your time, your voice, your life. Signs of disconnection from self can take many forms, including people-pleasing, depression, anxiety, and resentment. Healing starts with recognizing and expressing emotions in an honest way and reconnecting with the neglected parts of yourself, but it can't be done in a vacuum. Dr. Thema gives you the tools to meaningfully connect with your larger community, even if you face racism and sexism, heartbreak, grief, and trauma. Rather than shrinking in the face of life's difficulties, you will discover in Homecoming the therapeutic approaches and spiritual practices to live a more expansive life characterized by empowerment, healthier relationships, gratitude, and a deeper sense of purpose.

- Unstoppable! : my journey from Olympic hopeful to Athlete A to eight-time NCAA champion and beyond / by Nichols, Maggie,1997-author.(CARDINAL)883882; Innelli, Hope,author.(CARDINAL)886088;
"Maggie Nichols' official memoir is an inspirational tell-all about the abuse she suffered under the USA national gymnastic team and how she managed to redefine herself in the face of adversity. In 2015, Maggie risked everything when she revealed to her coach how USAG doctor Larry Nassar had been sexually abusing the athletes under his care. What ensued was an investigation that would capture the nation, involving multiple faculty members of the gymnastics team, and multiple gymnasts. An inspirational tell-all and intimate look into the world of elite gymnastics - from the Kaarolyi's to the politics of Olympic tryouts to grueling daily routines - Maggie now tells this story in her words: a story of trauma, reclaiming, and triumph. Featured in critically acclaimed documentaries including Netflix's Athlete A (2020) and HBO's At the Heart of Gold (2019), the story of Nassar's abuse - and the length members of the team took to cover it up - is a critical look into this harrowing history, now told for the first time in memoir by Maggie Nichols. *Content warning for: sexual abuse"--Grades 10-12Ages 14-18

- This side of the river / by Stayton, Jeffrey.;
"Told from multiple narrators, this gritty tale takes place in the summer of 1865 after the Confederacy has collapsed. A contingent of young Civil War widows who have survived General Sherman's March to the Sea rally around a teenage, Christ-haunted Texas Ranger named Cat Harvey to travel to Ohio to burn down Sherman's home. This compelling tale explores themes of trauma, revenge, redemption, and the disorder known then as "nostalgia" or "soldier's heart."--Front flyleaf.

- Women make horror : filmmaking, feminism, genre / by Peirse, Alison,editor.;
"Women Make Horror is the first book-length study of women filmmakers in horror film, the first all-women edited book on horror film, and the first book to call out the male-bias in written histories of horror and then to illuminate precisely how, and where, these histories are lacking. It re-evaluates existing literature on the history of horror film, on women practitioners in the film industry and approaches to undertaking film industries research. It establishes new approaches for studying women practitioners and illuminates their unexamined contribution to the formation and evolution of the horror genre. The book focuses on women directors and screenwriters but also acknowledges the importance of women producers, editors and cinematographers. It explores narrative and experimental cinema, short, anthology and feature-filmmaking, and offers case studies of North American, Latin American, European, East Asian and Australian filmmakers, films and festivals. With this book we can transform how we think about women filmmakers and genre"--Includes bibliographical references and index.Women Make (Write, Produce, Direct, Shoot, Edit and Analyze) Horror / Alison Peirse -- Stephanie Rothman and Vampiric Film Histories / Alicia Kozma -- Inside Karen Arthur's The Mafu Cage / Alexandra Heller-Nicholas -- The Secret beyond the Door: Daria Nicolodi and Suspiria's Multiple Authorship / Martha Shearer -- Personal Trauma Cinema and the Experimental Videos of Cecelia Condit and Ellen Cantor / Katia Houde -- Self-Reflexivity and Feminist Camp in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare / Tosha R. - Retracing the Keowee Trail : a deep map of the Cherokee path in the history of the Carolinas / by Taylor, Stuart(Presbyterian minister),author.;
Includes bibliographical references (pages 259-262)In Retracing the Keowee Trail, the author tells the story of the Cherokee Path that connected the low country of colonial Carolina with the mountain homeland of the Cherokee Nation. The Keowee Trail was a busy trading route for a burgeoning deerskin trade. Along this same path, epidemic disease made its way inexorably from the colony toward Cherokee society, reducing their population by more than half. Along this path, warfare was waged in both directions, by Cherokee war parties determined to defend their homeland and by settlers like the author's Scots Irish ancestors, evermore hungry for land. That ancestral history is an entry point into this larger narrative. A "deep map" approach to the Keowee Trail will hold together multiple lines of perspective, including memoir, family history, migration patterns, religious history, Indigenous wisdom, trauma theory, ghost stories, mythology, archeology, geography, the watersheds, and the flora and fauna of the Southern Appalachians.
