Years later, still very close to Sulamit, Friedrich discovers his father's past and severs himself from the family and moves to Germany for a scholarship to study politics. Sulamit secures a scholarship to study in Germany as well and reunites with Friedrich, who unbeknownst to her has become deeply involved in revolutionary activities in response to fascist governments around the world. After and arms heist goes wrong, Friedrich disappears prompting Sulamit to find out what happened to her German friend.
