Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs was released in September 1959 on Columbia Records and featured all western and cowboy songs. It was a huge success and peaked at #6 on the U.S. pop albums chart. "El Paso" was a #1 hit song and, also from this album, "Big Iron" made the Top 10 of the Country charts.
