Mustard seed / by Ibrahim, Laila,author.(CARDINAL)410939;
"Oberlin, Ohio, 1868. Lisbeth Johnson was born into privilege in the antebellum South. Jordan Freedman was born a slave to Mattie, Lisbeth's beloved nurse. The women have an unlikely bond deeper than friendship. Three years after the Civil War, Lisbeth and Mattie are tending their homes and families while Jordan, an aspiring suffragette, teaches at an integrated school. When Lisbeth discovers that her father is dying, she's summoned back to the Virginia plantation where she grew up. There she must face the Confederate family she betrayed by marrying an abolitionist. Jordan and Mattie return to Fair Oaks, too, to save the family they left behind, who still toil in oppression. For Lisbeth, it's a time for reconciliation. For Jordan and Mattie, it's time for liberation. As the Johnsons and Freedmans confront the injustice that binds them, as well as the bitterness and violence that seethes at its heart, the women must find the courage to free their families--and themselves--from the past"--Page 4 of cover.

The mustard seed / by Ledford, Renee.;
Told in her own words, this is the story of Susan Renee Ledford and her struggle to hold onto her faith in spite of an almost unbelievable series of obstacles (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). Having endured years of hospital confinement, multiple surgeries, body casts, a pelvic halo traction brace, three kidney transplants, all the accompanying medical side effects, near-death experiences, and a lifetime of chronic asthma, she has been declared physically disabled. In spite of this, she has managed to complete a college degree, even though it required ten years of on-again/off-again effort. Through her work in the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Foundation, founded by her and her mother, as a volunteer counselor Renee has touched the lives of hundreds of kidney failure patients, their families, and fellow volunteers as well. Even more importantly, by her example and by her willingness to share her experiences with others, she has shown the power of faith to more people than most of us can imagine.

Secrets of the seas : a journey into the heart of the oceans / by Mustard, Alex,author.; Mustard, Alex,illustrator.author.;
Our seas are host to an extraordinary variety of plant and animal life, but much of it remains mysterious and great imagery is surprisingly hard to find. Alex Mustard is one of the world's leading underwater photographers and his images are so crisp and immediate that the animals seem to swim out of the water towards you. This beautiful book gathers together a selection of his award-winning images and a number of new ones to create a vivid picture of the seas and oceans and the animals that inhabit them, each chapter accompanied by a 1500 word essay and extended captions written by leading natural history writer, Professor Callum Roberts. The text addresses the issue of change in the oceans along with tales of oceanography, marine life and human history in the seas and aims to help the reader to get to know the oceans, understand how marine animals live their lives and how they have, are and may well adapt to change.
