While leading three different college football teams and one Canadian pro team from 1927-58, Walker cut a wide and woolly swath through one of the most interesting times in the history of American football. He was part coach and part comedian; a brilliant sideline manager, who lifted underdog Wake Forest to national prominence; and a gifted banquet speaker who left audiences rolling in the aisles across the southeast....Author Tucker Mitchell interviewed more than 60 of Walker's former players and close associates, and plumbed countless printed resources to produce an intimate account of Walker's life and times."--Back cover.

"The inspiration for Writers Camp @ ZSR came after a group of ZSR librarians heard Jane McGonigal present 'Find the Future: The Game' during the American Library Association's 2014 Annual Conference. The ZSR Library wanted to provide an opportunity to engage students interested in writing outside of the classroom and to offer these students the opportunity to become published authors. During the Summer of 2015, The Writers Camp @ ZSR committee was formed and the Writing Center and other University partners were brought in to help plan, market, and lead the event on Friday, January 29th 2016. Students were invited to apply to participate in Writers Camp during the Fall of 2015, and forty-one student authors were selected for the overnight Writers Camp. The works they created that night are published in this volume. The Z. Smith Reynolds Library provided the staff and venue for the event, the WFU Writing Center tutors offered assistance to the student authors throughout the event, and costs associated with the event and book were paid for by a grant from the WFU Provost's Fund for Academic Innovation. You can learn more about this program at: http://zsr.wfu.edu/outreach/zsr-writers-camp/." -- Back cover.

- Charles and Ray Eames : designers of the twentieth century / by Kirkham, Pat,author.; MIT Press,publisher.;
Includes bibliographical references (pages 397-401) and index.Charles and Ray Eames, perhaps the most famous American design partnership of the twentieth century, did pioneering work in furniture and exhibition design, in architecture, and in filmmaking. Out of respect for Charles' wishes, no book on them was published while either partner was alive. In this volume Pat Kirkham interprets their careers in depth, probing the lives behind the designs and the nature of the collaboration. In researching this major book, Kirkham had full access to the Eames archive and cooperation from the Eameses' clients and associates. The result is a richly detailed study of these remarkable designers and of their work from 1941 to 1978, including a substantial reevaluation of Ray's role.

- Scones and scoundrels [large print] / by MacRae, Molly,author.(CARDINAL)352108;
Inversgail, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, welcomes home native daughter and best-selling environmental writer Daphne Wood. Known as the icon of ecology, Daphne will spend three months as the author in residence for the Inversgail schools. Janet Marsh and her business partners at Yon Bonnie Books are looking forward to hosting a gala book signing for her. Daphne, who hasn't set foot in Scotland in thirty years, is--eccentric. She lives in the Canadian wilderness, in a cabin she built herself, with only her dog for a companion, and her people skills have developed a few rough-hewn edges. She and the dog (which she insists on bringing with her) cause problems for the school, the library, and the bookshop even before they get to Inversgail. Then, on the misty night they arrive, a young man--an American who'd spent a night in the B & B above Yon Bonnie Books--is found dead outside a pub. Daphne did her Inversgail homework and knows that Janet and her partners solved a previous murder. She tries to persuade them to join her in uncovering the killer and the truth. To prove she's capable, she starts poking and prying. But investigating crimes can be murder, and Daphne ends up dead, poisoned by scones from the tearoom at Yon Bonnie Books. Now, to save the reputation of their business--not to mention the reputation of their scones--Janet and her partners must solve both murders. And Daphne's dog might be able to help them, if only they can get it to stop howling--
