- Hans Arp : Ovi Bimba / by Arp, Jean,1887-1966,artist.(CARDINAL)147892; Dankbar, Melanie,editor.(CARDINAL)783466; Steiner, Juri,author,editor.(CARDINAL)783465; Galerie Hauser & Wirth,host institution.(CARDINAL)335171;
Includes bibliographical references.Hans Arp was one of the most innovative and influential artists of the 20th century. With a playful hand and a multifaceted practice that included sculpture, relief, painting, collage and poetry, Arp juggled the dominant art currents of Cubism, Surrealism and Constructivism, combining seemingly contradictory geometric and organic formal idioms with the artistic 'isms' of his epoch. In 1916, Arp was invited by Hugo Ball to take part in the Cabaret Voltaire at Spiegelgasse 1 in Zurich. The now iconic event marked the birth of Dadaism and the beginnings of a long overdue breakthrough for Arp. 'Ovi Bimba' is a revelatory publication exploring these early years of Arp's practice, focusing on his time in Zurich during the birth of Dada to his sculptures in the 1940s and 1950s. The publication positions these diverse pieces alongside those of Arp's fellow artists, including his wife, Sophie Taeuber-Arp.

- David Smith : form in color / by Stevens, Peter,1955-author.(CARDINAL)782759; Wenman, Neil Robert,author.(CARDINAL)782760; White, Michelle,1979-author.(CARDINAL)782758; Smith, David,1906-1965.Works.Selections.2016.; Galerie Hauser & Wirth,host institution.(CARDINAL)335171;
Includes bibliographical references.David Smith (1906-1965) is widely considered one of the foremost artists of the 20th century. For the artist, there was no conceptual boundary between sculpture, painting, and drawing. The resulting works derive much of their power from this radically open-ended approach. Whereas the physical qualities of Smith's welded-steel sculptures transmit a strong industrial presence, their surfaces carry gestural and tactile imprints, often of hand-applied paint. The impact of his work results from his insistence that sculpture have the same visual impact as painting and drawing, and that drawing and painting have the same spatial weight as sculpture. Focusing on 20 works from the late 1950s until the artist's untimely and sudden death in 1965, 'David Smith: Form in Color' charts the development of these stunning works with extensive illustrations and historic images culled from the archives of The Estate of David Smith. Exhibition: Hauser & Wirth, Zurich, Switzerland (12.06. - 18.09.2016).

- Rashid Johnson : blocks. by Johnson, Rashid,1977-artist.(CARDINAL)353066; Alemani, Cecilia,interviewer.(CARDINAL)337948; Galerie Hauser & Wirth,publisher.(CARDINAL)335171; Friends of the High Line.(CARDINAL)353065;
Published on the occasion of an exhibition held on the High Line at Little West 12th Street, New York City, May 2015-March 2016.Rashid Johnson and Cecilia Alemani in conversation.The High Line is a 1.45-mile stretch of disused elevated freight tracks on Manhattan's West Side that was converted into a park between 2006 and 2014. In 2015, the American artist Rashid Johnson (b. Chicago, Ill., 1977; lives and works in New York, N.Y.) installed a publicly accessible sculpture on the tracks. Commissioned by the High Line Art program, it consisted of a shelf-like black metal construction that housed a number of bright yellow busts. Blocks presents comprehensive photographic documentation of the eponymous work's evolving interaction with the lush vegetation into which it intervened. Over the course of the full year for which the sculpture stood on the site, plants of different species grew through its grid structure, lending it a forever changing aspect as the seasons passed. The pictures illustrate the poetic quality of the time-limited relationship between a man-made construction and nature, touching on themes such as optimism, failure, regeneration, and desolation. A conversation between Cecilia Alemani, chief curator of High Line Art, and Rashid Johnson sheds light on the genesis of Blocks and the artist's approach to making work for public settings.

Includes bibliographical references.Couples / Marie-Laure Bernadac -- Femme couteau : thoughts on an idea in the oeuvre of Louise Bourgeois / Ulf Küster -- Pregnant woman : in the work of Louise Bourgeois and Pablo Picasso / Diana Widmaier Picasso -- Louise Bourgeois, Pablo Picasso : art, psychoanalysis, and trauma / Émilie Bouvard -- A man and a woman / Gérard Wajcman.Hauser & Wirth Zürich is proud to present 'Louise Bourgeois & Pablo Picasso: Anatomies of Desire' which opens during Zurich Art Weekend on 8 June 2019. The exhibition is the first time that Picasso is exhibited in a dual dialogue with a female sculptor and brings together over 90 works including paintings, sculptures and works on paper from important public institutions and private collections such as the Fondation Beyeler (Riehen/Basel), Nasher Sculpture Center (Dallas), and Kunstmuseum Den Haag (The Hague). Curated by highly renowned specialist Marie-Laure Bernadac, former curator at the Louvre, Musée Picasso (Paris), and Centre Pompidou, the exhibition is organised in close collaboration with the Louise Bourgeois Studio. The aim of the exhibition is to foster a discourse on the work of Bourgeois and Picasso by exploring the differences and affinities in the artists? formal, thematic and iconographic language. The presentation will display intentional pairings of works, by placing these artists together for comparative analysis, this exhibition sheds new light on their oeuvres and rids us of the clichés of the virile painter armed with a phallic brush and the sculptress armed with a knife, explains curator Marie-Laure Bernadac. The original inspiration for the pairing came from an exhibition organised by the Beyeler Foundation in 2011, curated by Ulf Küster, which presented works by Bourgeois in dialogue with works by modern masters from the Beyeler collection confirming the artist's position as one of the key bridges between modern and contemporary art. Exhibition: Hauser & Wirth, Zürich, Switzerland (09.06. - 14.09.2019).
