- The fruit of the spirit : bible study for tweens / by Dobson, T.S.,author.;
There are nine Fruits of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Why are these nine fruits so important in everyday living? Paul in Galatians when speaking about these fruits was referring to the Holy Spirit. You are never too young or old to experience the fruits of the spirit. This study is for anyone, but the target of the study is for what we call the “tween” preteen years, that in between stage in life of growing up. Many questions of how to live the Christian life can be guided by these fruits. In this study not only are the fruits discussed by life experiences as a tween, but the study shows how to use the Bible to search for these fruits using the Concordance Index. It's a great book for Bible study devotions! To fully understand the Fruits of the Spirit, we must be able to comprehend the nine words by their definition and context as given using the Bible. This is a comprehensive study of each word to help adolescence in their journey with understanding God.

- Rosaline Palmer takes the cake / by Hall, Alexis J.,author.(CARDINAL)618849;
"Rosaline Palmer is just barely holding her life together. Her paycheck might as well be parchment paper, her house is falling apart, and help from her parents is always served with a generous slice of disappointment and judgment. And the cherry on top? Now her daughter's school is charging all sorts of outlandish extra fees for trips that Rosaline can't afford. But where there's a whisk there's a way. . . and Rosaline has just landed a place on the nation's favorite baking show. Winning the prize money could change everything, but more than collapsing trifles stand between Rosaline and sweet, sweet victory. Charming and suave Alain Pope is just the type of person her parents planned for her to marry, and better yet, her fellow contestant is doing his best to sweep her off her feet. Yet while he says and bakes all the right things, it's friendly, down-to-earth electrician Harry Dobson who Rosaline finds as tempting as a midnight ice-cream sundae with salted caramel . . . and just as hard to resist. But as the competition -- and the ovens -- heat up, Rosaline starts to realize the most delicious recipes come about when you don't follow the recipe"--

- Horror stories : classic tales from Hoffmann to Hodgson / by Jones, Darryl,1967-editor.(CARDINAL)421722;
The modern horror story grew and developed across the nineteenth century, embracing categories as diverse as ghost stories, supernatural and psychological horror, medical and scientific horrors, colonial horror, and tales of mystery and premonition. This anthology brings together 29 of the greatest horror stories of the period from 1816 to 1912, from the British, Irish, American, and European traditions. It ranges widely across the sub-genres to encompass authors whose terror-inducing powers remain unsurpassed. The book includes stories by some of the best writers of the century-- Hoffmann, Poe, Balzac, Dickens, Hawthorne, Melville, Zola--as well as established genre classics such as M. R. James, Arthur Machen, Bram Stoker, Algernon Blackwood, Charlotte Perkins Gilman and others. It includes rare and little known pieces by writers such as William Maginn, Francis Marion Crawford, W. F. Harvey, and William Hope Hodgson, and shows the important role played by periodicals in popularizing the horror story. Wherever possible stories are reprinted in their first published form, with background information about their authors and helpful, contextualizing annotation. Darryl Jones's lively introduction discusses horror's literary evolution and its articulation of cultural preoccupations and anxieties. These are stories guaranteed to freeze the blood, revolt the senses, and keep you awake at night: prepare to be terrified!
